More Images“Dressing up” ... a women’s wear collection that encourages women of all ages to discover the fun loving, frivolous girl within. This Spring/Summer 08 ensemble has a sophisticated palette of colours; beginning with white, passing through silver and grey tones, finishing with a refined midnight blue. The shades of cold lunar reflections emphasise a feeling of freedom which is accentuated by the use of opaque georgettes, muslins and luxurious cottons. Our initial inspiration came form the Korean Artist ‘Do-Ho Suh’, he created beautiful architectural installations using almost transparent fabric that appeared light, yet strong. We have explored the manipulation of fabric through layering, pleating and gathering. Creating oversized voluminous dresses and loose fitting fluid garments that are not limited to only evening wear but appropriate for all other summer engagements. With the use of pretty trimmings such as ribbons, bows, lace and rouleux fastenings it gives a nostalgic feeling of childhood allowing any woman to feel confident yet extremely feminine. The use of the trapeze silhouette as the foundation of further development highlights the naive shapes of the garments giving the impression of dressing up as you would as a child in your mothers’ wardrobe. To sum up this Spring/Summer 08 collection is full of contradictions; oversized versus fitted, girly versus sophistication with demure colours yet intelligently engineered style lines and they all work together to create a wearable, timeless collection. |
